Records to gather first
Start with the records that describe actual work: materials handled, cutting or grinding tasks, wet methods, local exhaust, HEPA cleanup, restricted areas, training dates, respirator fit-test records, and air monitoring or consultant notes if available.
California-specific review notes
Keep a separate California notes section for Cal/OSHA correspondence, consultant recommendations, policy updates, and state-specific questions. Do not treat a software-generated binder as a state-law determination.
Inspection-prep packet
A useful packet gives the reviewer a clear table of contents: exposure control plan draft, task/control table, employee training records, respirator records, medical-surveillance checklist, SDS files, maintenance logs, and missing-evidence notes.
